The great Millennial invasion
TED@UPS asks: What if Chinese Millennials are about to take over the world?
Much attention has been given to American Millennials and how to cater to their needs. While this group will certainly impact the future, speaker Sebastian Guo argues that our attention should be focused on a different group—Chinese Millennials, who outnumber the Americans five to one.
Chinese Millennials—not American—are the biggest emerging consumer demographic on the planet.
A Chinese Millennial himself, Sebastian has lived and traveled around the world. Through his time in Asia, Europe, and North America, he has experienced a diversity of burgeoning Millennial cultures.
In his TED@UPS talk, Sebastian explains the five things people should know about Chinese Millennials to prepare for the rise of this new generation. These include an understanding of how well-educated and motivated the Chinese are, how they are extremely mobile and adventurous, and how good they are at focusing on the “big picture.”
Sebastian sees a world that is tipping toward China, and it is not a question of if but when we will all begin to feel the impact of this shift.
